ENOCHIAN
ANGELIC CIPHER TRANSMISSION
1583 • JOHN DEE • EDWARD KELLEY • PROTOCOL ACTIVE
These sequences of letters correspond to the three groups of seven letters that make up the Enochian (or “Angelic”) alphabet revealed to the Elizabethan occultist John Dee and his medium Edward Kelley in the late 16th century.
In Dee’s journals (notably manuscript Sloane 3189), this 21-letter alphabet is divided into three parts of seven letters each:
(Pa, Veh, Ged, Gal, Or, Un, Graph)
(Tal, Gon, Na, Ur, Mals, Ger, Drux)
(Pal, Med, Don, Ceph, Van, Fam, Gisg)
These letters were used to fill complex magical tables (such as the Liber Loagaeth) and to write the “Angelic Keys”, invocations designed to communicate with spirits.
Structure: The order of the letters in these groups is a permutation of the Latin alphabet of the time (23 letters, with redundant K and Y omitted to reach 21).
